How to get to Conference Center?

Boğaziçi University - Garanti Cultural Center (North Campus)

Transport from Istanbul Atatürk Airport to Conference Center
By taxi (costs about 50 YTL / €  25 / $ 35 between 6:00 am and midnight, with a 50 % increase after midnight) Taxis are available outside the airport terminal.

The journey from Istanbul Atatürk Airport to Bogaziçi University takes about 30-45 minutes (if there is no major traffic jam which is not unusual for Istanbul).

By Havaş
From the airport, you can take the Havaş Shuttle Services to Akmerkez Shopping Center, Etiler (which is close to the university) and from Akmerkez a taxi to the campus which costs about 8 TL.

You may also come to Taksim by Havaş Shuttle Services.

Transport from Taksim to Boğaziçi University

From Taksim you may take a taxi to the campus which costs about 20 - 25 TL.
Taksim is the center of the city’s transportation network, with buses, subways and dolmuş coming in from various destinations of the city.

In Taksim you can reach historical, cultural and entertainment centers in a walking distance. Many good restaurants and hotels are situated around the Taksim Square. The buses “59R Rumelihisarüstü” and “559R Rumelihisarüstü” from Taksim Square go directly to Rumelihisarüstü.


Municipal buses (red or green) require tickets which must be purchased before boarding.
Private buses, Halk Otobüsleri, (blue and green) also accept cash. You can use also AKBİL’s or “smart tickets” that can be purchased at ticket boots.
These are used almost like a phone card having prepaid credits.

AKBİL’s are available at Hisarüstü, Taksim, Beşiktaş, Şişli or Mecidiyeköy, the bus stop next to the entrance of the South Campus of Bogaziçi University.

From the South to the North Campus
The walking is possibble between the two campuses which is pleasant, with a wonderful view. It will take about 5 minutes from one entrance to other.

Downtown
You can use bus, boat and taxi to go to downtown. You can use two roads to go to town.

Upper road: From Rumeli Hisarüstü virtually all buses go to Taksim, Beşiktaş , Şişli, Kabataş, Kadıköy (in Asian side of the Bosphorus) and Sarıyer. All of them go through Etiler and Levent.

Lower, Coastal Road: This is the line for either Taksim or Kabataş via Bebek and Beşiktaş. In order to go to the north of the city, (Sarıyer), lower road can be used.

Buses
Your most frequent bus ride routes would likely to be Hisarüstü to Taksim (559C), Hisarüstü to Kabataş (43R), Hisarüstü to Şişli (59R), Hisarüstü to Sarıyer (59RS), Hisarüstü to Kadıköy (125), Bebek to Taksim (40 and 40T) and Bebek to Kabataş (22, 22RE and 25E). There are two kinds of buses available for public transportation.

If you have any doubts about the destination of any bus, you can check the signs which are normally posted at the front and on the sides. They show all the major stops along the route that the bus is following.

Boats
The boat dock is at Bebek. This is a very pleasant way to travel, less crowded during rush hours and also a rapid way to get downtown on a weekday morning.

Weekdays there are two early morning boats which go to Eminönü. Along the way they stop at Ortaköy and Beşiktaş. The schedule is posted at the dock, inside the waiting room.

The inter-city code for Istanbul is 212 for the European side and 216 for the Asian side. To call a number on the other side, first dial (0), then appropriate code. Ferries to Izmir depart Fridays at 17:30 and arrive the next morning. The return voyage leaves Sundays at 14:00, arriving in Istanbul the next morning at 09:00.

The Bosphorus cruise leaves every day from the Eminönü jetty at 10:35 and 13:35 and goes all the way to Anadolu Kavağı, where a lunch break is given before the return journey. Please Call 0212 522 00 45 for further information.
